I'm baaaaack!
It feels AMAZING. My bed is SO comfortable. My parents' house is so bigggggggg. Life is luxurious! No more shoebox in Notting Hill for me. While it was an incredible, amazing experience that I will never ever forget/regret, an experience that taught me a TON about myself and a lot about other cultures and things of that nature, I have never been so happy to be H O M E !
My flight was great, fine, everything went well.. I was wearing a new zip-up sweatshirt I got with the British flag on it, kinda punk rock... As I'm retrieving my bags on the belt, an older guy gave me a hand cause my suitcase is massive and extremely heavy. I said "oh wow, thank you! I've never been a light packer..." and he laughed. I was so excited to be standing on American soil that I just sort of continued talking to this complete stranger for no good reason. I said "Well, four months worth of stuff I guess I'm allowed this time," and he asked if I was coming or going. I said "Oh no, I've just come back from 4 months in London." He said "And you come back wearing a Union flag!" (Are we really still calling it that? Come on now.) I said "Oh no, this is just for fun. I am an American PROUDLY and COMPLETELY," smiled and walked away. It was quite the dorky moment but my excitement was just unable to be hidden. As I walked toward the exit, an airport cop stopped me and asked to search my bag. Greatttt all I want to do is GO HOME and I had to stand there for 25 minutes while he and another woman stood with rubber gloves, going through my 2 suitcases, and pulling out *only* the most embarrassing items. I told him that I was learning all of the colors of red my face was able to turn. Unbelievable!! FINALLY I got through, was greeted by my parents (so nice) and then... then I was home. Amazing feeling.
So nice to be back in America.. where air conditioning is normal and ice cubes are plenty! Now if you'll excuse me, I have a barbecue to attend and some Sox Yankees games to watch.
CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU ALL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
